Alterman/JETS Transportation

For a moderate fee, Alterman/JETS provides transportation for both older adults and adults with disabilities to and from work, doctor or other appointments, social outings, shopping or other destinations. Peak availability for rides is Monday through Friday from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm in several metro-Atlanta counties.

JHLC's short term inpatient and outpatient rehab center at The William Breman Jewish Home offers physical, occupational and speech therapy, furnished rooms and spa-like amenities for those recovering from orthopedic surgery, post-surgical complications or a disabling illness such as stroke or heart attack.

JHLC's kosher, licensed assisted living and memory care community in Dunwoody offers 58 apartments in an active and supportive environment for older adults who require some level of assistance with daily living tasks to those with advanced cognitive impairments such as Alzheimer’s who need a secure environment.

Counseling Services

JF&CS’ Aviv Older Adult Services offers supportive individual and group counseling around such issues as depression, anxiety, grief, loss, caregiver stress and other difficult adjustments. Home visits make services accessible to those managing age-related changes. We also support counseling for palliative care clients.

Geriatric Care Management (GCM)

We often see clients who are juggling career, family needs and caregiving at the same time, while others live too far from their parents or aging loved ones to help them meet their daily needs. We know that when clients have trouble understanding how to help the elders they care about, it’s difficult to make sense of the options. Geriatric Care Management (GCM) provides assistance for you and your loved one in finding resources, making decisions, and managing stress. This important service provides “one stop shopping” for care for you and your loved one.

JF&CS’ Aviv Older Adult Services provides reparation assistance and social events for Holocaust Survivors and essential services, including personal care, housecleaning, home-delivered meals, transportation, medical and dental assistance, prescription assistance and emergency financial assistance to eligible Holocaust Survivors.

Jewish Learning

The MJCCA's Lisa F. Brill Institute for Jewish Learning is Atlanta's largest adult Jewish education program. It features a broad range of diverse learning opportunities, including the Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning curriculum. The JCC also offers a free Lunch 'n Learn series, which presents local rabbis providing their unique perspectives on a range of topics.

Kosher Food Pantry

The Kosher Food Pantry provides food and/or grocery gift cards for any community member struggling to meet basic needs and they are then better able to direct their limited resources towards other necessities such as housing, medicine and utilities. One Good Deed (Friendly Visitor Program)

One Good Deed is a is a friendly visitor program that matches volunteers with older adults so they can live independently in their own homes and supports both the client and his or her family caregivers. Services include assistance with cooking meals with the recipient, shopping for groceries, paying bills, and running errands.

Services to Older Refugees

Services to Older Refugees focuses on providing education about and access to existing services in the community to refugees 60 years of age and older. JF&CS’ Aviv Older Adult Services works with senior citizen organizations to help them better serve refugees. The program also provides culturally appropriate activates to help combat loneliness and isolation.

Social and Recreational Programs

Active seniors are invited to stimulate their imaginations with a wide range of unique culinary and arts classes offered at the MJCCA. For the literary audience, the MJCCA Literary Book Club meets monthly to analyze and review recent critically-acclaimed pieces of literature. Trips are also offered throughout the year. The hottest sport for active seniors at the MJCCA is Pickleball. This low-impact game combines elements of tennis, table tennis, and badminton, in teams of two or four. Open play is offered throughout the week and tournaments take place bi-annually.

The MJCCA offers the Edgewise Speaker Series, a weekly informative talk from Atlanta business leaders and experts on various interesting topics. The Talking Heads Co-ed Discussion Group invites active seniors to share opinions and engage in lively discourse on a variety of subjects.

The Toco Hills NORC program is designed to help keep older adults safe in their homes and more fully engaged with one another and with their community. Our programs and services provide older adults with access to home safety improvements and enrichment opportunities that provide a sense of empowerment, and remove barriers to participation such as transportation, affordability, and lack of knowledge. In addition, the NORC helps increase the local community’s capacity to help support older adults who wish to age in place.
